AMONG THE RUINS – It happened on the night of February 25, 2010 in the midst of a winter storm which brought heavy rain and gusting wind to New Hampshire, ultimately downing trees and knocking out power throughout the northeast. The Surf Hotel along the Hampton strip caught fire that evening and burned to the ground along with the adjoining businesses on either side, including an arcade and gift shop. In the days and weeks to follow hundreds of people came to see for themselves the damage that had bestowed an entire block of buildings, some photographing the wreckage and remains of this beach front tourist destination.

Having visited this site on several occasions prior to the cleanup, I came away with a series of photographs I am presenting here which focus on the damage and remaining artifacts from a closer, more abstract and artful perspective.
